SOCIAL SUSTAINABILITY
Norwegian firemen work, in line with the UN's sustainability goals, to contribute to a social society characterized by trust, security and good local environments. We are very happy about the 62% of the population who contributed voluntarily in 2023, but want even more to participate.
The statistics show that voluntary efforts are decreasing among those who perhaps need the social community the most, namely the young and the elderly.
We know that participation in voluntary organizations or initiatives strengthens the feeling of belonging to the local environment, prevents alienation and promotes integration. We therefore want to use all our time to inspire people throughout Norway to contribute themselves and volunteer.

If you look at the degree of voluntary effort in different age groups, it turns out that those between the ages of 30-59 participate at the same level as before. In the youngest and oldest groups, the proportion who do voluntary work is lower compared to before.
In 2020, 68% of those under 30 answered that they had volunteered. 59% answer the same question in 2023.
For those aged 60 and over, 67% answered that they had made voluntary efforts in 2020, while the proportion in 2023 is 60%.
It is gratifying that the proportion of volunteers is increasing overall, and that the population is giving a little more money and participating in more activities than before. We hope to contribute to the trend continuing in the right direction.

The UN says we must together develop the world into a better place for those living now, without destroying those who come later. To know if what we are doing is what is called "sustainable", we must ask ourselves: "Is this something we can do over and over again forever and ever?" This applies both with friends, but also with money and climate conditions such as waste sorting.
